Any local sponsor in Singapore (with a Sing pass account) can also submit your application online.

All visa applicants are required to completely fill visa application form 14 A i.e. all columns and blank spaces should be full. The visa application forms are available free of charge at authorized visa agents at Annex A or at any Singapore Overseas Missions.

The Singapore Visa processing fee for each application is S$30. Visa processing fees are to be paid upon application. The processing fee is non-refundable irrespective of the outcome of the application. In addition to the visa fee of S$30 the authorized visa agents will also impose a fixed service charge of Rs. 300 only for each visa application. Processing of the application takes 1 working day after submitting the application. This excludes the day of submission, weekends and public holidays.

Every application will be considered on its own merits. Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors must also meet other entry requirements such as holding a valid passport, sufficient funds for the period of stay in Singapore and confirmed onward/return air ticket.

Employers are to furnish a new security deposit or extend the existing security deposit for non-Malaysian FDWs.

A new security deposit of $5,000 in a Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee must be submitted to the Controller of Work Passes. It must be valid for 26 months. Alternatively, the existing Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee may be extended.

For the extension of the existing Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee, the bank or insurance company must transmit to MOM’s Work Pass Division using the same Guarantee Number and for the same FDW/existing group of FDWs. A new security bond Form is not required if the existing Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee is used.

If you wish to use the remaining period of the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee, the Work Permit will only be renewed up to two months before the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee’s expiry date, subject to other employment criteria.

The bank or insurance company must transmit the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee details successfully to the MOM’s Work Pass Division before the e-renewal of the Work Permit. The effective date of the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee can be:

On or before the day of renewal of the Work Permit; or

Post-dated up to one day after the expiry date of the existing Work Permit (For example, if the Work Permit expires on 17 December 2012, the effective date of the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee should be 18 December 2012).

Medical insurance

A new medical insurance must be provided for the renewal of the Work Permit. Alternatively, the existing medical insurance can be renewed.

For medical insurance policies taken up or renewed on or after 1 January 2010, the insurance coverage must be at least $15,000 per year for each FDW’s inpatient care and day surgery. The medical insurance may be purchased from the bank or insurance company that provides the Banker’s or Insurance Guarantee for the security deposit.

Personal accident insurance

A new personal accident insurance must be provided for the renewal of the Work Permit. Alternatively, the existing personal accident insurance can be renewed.

The new personal accident insurance can be effective on or before the day of renewal of the Work Permit or post-dated up to a day after the expiry date of the existing Work Permit.

The bank or insurance company must transmit the details successfully to MOM’s Work Pass Division before the e-renewal of the Work Permit. For domestic workers who are only required to furnish a personal accident insurance (excluding security deposit), the employer or authorised employment agency is required to submit a copy of the insurance to the Work Pass Services Centre.

A short-term Visit Pass can be extended from within Singapore at the Visitor's Services Centre for an additional 89 days provided that the traveller can find a Singaporean sponsor, who will need to accompany them when making their application.

Entry visa for Singapore (for all other countries)

Citizens not from a visa-exempt country will need to apply for an Entry Visa, which can be done online at the website for Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority or at a Singapore Overseas Mission office in their home country.

In addition to the requirements for the short-term Visit Pass, applicants will need:

A completed application form

Recent passport-sized colour photo

A copy of applicant's passport (valid for six months after date of entry)

A letter of Introduction from a businessman, citizen or permanent resident in Singapore

If wanting to work in Singapore, it's necessary to find employment so the employer can apply for an Employment Pass (EP) on the applicant's behalf. The EP is the equivalent of a work visa or work permit in other destinations.

Singapore PR – Benefits and Drawbacks

As a permanent resident (PR) of Singapore, you and your family are free to live, work and buy property in the country and be a part of Singapore society. You are eligible for a range of perks such as the freedom to travel in and out of the country and priority entry to Singapore’s public education system for your children. In the workplace, your employer is required to make monthly contributions to a compulsory pension scheme, and you would not need to acquire new working visas every time you change your job.

Whilst you are given many rights as a Singapore PR, the government also has rights upon you. One of them is the military service (commonly referred to as national service, or “NS”), which is compulsory on your sons (if they are also PRs) once they reach 18.

Thousands apply for Singapore permanent residence

There are estimated to be about 530,000 PRs in Singapore within a population of 5.3 million people, and the numbers are increasing (accurate for 2013).

PR benefits and obligations

Those who succeed in their PR application can enjoy a range of benefits that comes with the PR status. The main advantage is the entitlement to stay in Singapore without visa restrictions. Once you obtain your Blue Card (which is the identity document given to you once you receive your permanent residence status), you have the right to live in Singapore and you can leave and enter the country as you wish.

As a Singapore PR, your spouse and unmarried children under 21 are also eligible for similar status while your foreign parents are able to receive long-stay visas. If your children are school-aged, they are high on the priority list, behind citizens, to enter public schools of your own choosing. Non PRs are at the bottom of the list and are often left with no choice when it comes to schools.

Permanent residence in Singapore also enables you to change jobs freely without having to worry about re-applying for a work permit. Employment pass holders must cancel their working visas if they want to change jobs, which involves inherent risks such as having your new EP application rejected or delayed, forcing you to leave Singapore. Permanent residence removes those risks and hassles.

Singapore PRs who have jobs are also obliged to join the Central Provident Fund (CPF) scheme, in which you and your employer contribute a monthly minimum amount to your pension fund. The CPF scheme helps you out financially when it comes to health care, home-ownership, family protection and growing your assets. By deducting your contribution from your salary, you are able to enjoy a form of tax relief.

Another financial benefit of being a Singapore PR is that it is easier to borrow various loans such as a housing loan if you want to buy property.

Permanent residence also opens the door to Singapore citizenship, should you wish to acquire Singapore nationality at some time in the future. It may take a few years before you can apply for citizenship, but it is the only path to obtaining a Singapore Visa For Indians (apart from being born to a citizen).

One aspect of Singapore permanent residence that concerns many foreigners who have young sons is the national service. Under the Enlistment Act, all male Singapore citizens and permanent residents are liable to register for national service upon reaching 16½ years old. They must serve two years when they turn 18. This is followed by 40 days of Operationally Ready National Service every year until they turn 50, for officers, and 40 for other ranks.

When buying property, permanent residents are only allowed to buy second-hand units of government HDB flats while only citizens can purchase new ones.

Nevertheless, the advantages of being Singapore PR have convinced thousands of expatriates to apply every year. With Singapore encouraging the arrival of professionals and those who can contribute to the country’s welfare, the PR population will continue its steady growth and more foreigners will be able to enjoy the extra benefits and new-found rights they receive as permanent residents of Singapore.

Making a Myanmar Tourist Visa in Singapore

Thought that this should be useful as there doesn't seem to be such information out there.

To visit Myanmar, a tourist visa is needed, even for ASEAN nationals.

From the Embassy site:

A valid passport with entry visa is required for all visitors. A tourist visa allows a stay of 28 days extendable for an additional 14 days. A business visa allows a stay of 10 weeks, extendable up to 12 months on case-by-case basis. Visa on Arrival is granted on prior arrangement with the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism. Infants and children also require a separate visa even traveling on parent's passport.

Visa Hours

(Monday to Friday)     Morning : 09:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Visa Application Hours)

Evening : 04:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m. (Visa Collection Hours)

Processing Time          Two working days

The times are wrong as the opening hours start from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, while collection is from 5.00 to 6.00 pm. More details about the documents required and fees are listed on the site.

Making a Singapore Visa for Indians is only open to citizens or long-term pass holders. So those holding immigration cards are not eligible.

To skip having to be at the Embassy early to queue for a number, make an online appointment first.

Prepare everything required, although the name/business card is not compulsory if you don't have one, and photos can be smaller than 1.5 by 2.0 inches.

Travel to the Embassy on the appointed time. People can enter to wait before 8.30 am. There will be a line forming for the queue number, but if you made an online appointment you can skip it.

People place their belongings in order of arrival, and sit at the waiting area waiting for the counter to open. All instruction signs are in Burmese, so it would be confusing to a non-Burmese reader. Ignore the numbers shown on the screen if being there before opening hours.

Check to see if counter 8 or 9 has people manning it inside those doors. Once there are people, you can enter with your documents in order for submission. There is also a photocopier inside for paid public use. The lady in red was waiting before I entered and this was her third time trying to get a visa without making an online appointment because she didn't know about it!

I went in at 8.40 am and left at 8.50 am. The visa was made ready that same day for collection between 5.00 to 6.00 pm. The price is SGD 35 for the visa, and SGD 10 as service charge. All in all, this is very impressive!

Singapore e-Visa for Indian Passport Holders

The complexity involved in getting visa to most of the countries for Indian passport holders, makes last-minute plans a difficult task. Arranging all the required documents, considerable turnaround time at embassy plus time required for sending the application and then receiving passport back adds up to a longer processing time. 

However there are still few ray of hopes specially to some of the Asian countries. One such option is getting a visa to Singapore sitting at your home.

All you have to do is visit site and fill up the application form. It is a very simple form to fill up. Along with application you need to upload scanned copy of first and last page of passport and a color passport photograph. 

Though I couldn’t find photo requirements mentioned clearly but I would suggest you to follow same rules for photo specification that you follow while applying passport. Next step would be to make payment via credit card and you are done with application. How to apply Singapore Visa For Indians You will receive your e-visa via email. The official time mentioned is 3-4 days but normally you will receive the visa within 2 days. 

You will need to take a print out of this document, show it at immigration and you are ready to enter Singapore.

Completely Online Singapore Visa for Indian Citizens in One Day

Indian citizens need to apply for and obtain an e-visa before entering Singapore. There is no visa on arrival facility and no Singapore Government-run facility for obtaining an online visa like the one offered by Sri Lanka. As a result, for my previous visits to Singapore, I had to hand-over my original passport and other documents to an authorised agent who arranged a Singapore e-visa for me.

I got my e-visa via an email after 4 days and my passport back by courier in about a week. Of course I had to pay a fee which was equal to 30 Singapore Dollars plus the agent's service charges. Why Singapore makes us endure so much hassle? All the other countries I cover in this blog offer either a visa-free entry or a visa on arrival.

But I like Singapore too and cannot allow a visa requirement to stop me from going there. It has been quite a while since my last visit to Singapore and hence I have decided to go there in May 2014. A couple of days ago, I started searching for an authorised agent who would get me a visa for vising Singapore.

I currently live in Bengaluru and, therefore, my search query in 'bing.com' was "Singapore visa from Bangalore". It must have been my lucky day because the search result at the top took me to a Singapore visa authorised agent who not only did the regular "submit the documents" type of visa but also a completely online visa for Singapore for Indian citizens. And as a cherry on top, the requirement of documents to get a completely online visa was much less than the regular visa.

Documents required for Singapore Online Visa

The list of documents required for completely online visa for Singapore is really short. Here it is:

1. One scanned photo of the applicant

400 x 514 pixels JPEG image with white background and showing the face prominently and clearly. Maximum image file size of 60KB.

2. Scanned (color) copies of 1st (Photo) and last (address) pages of your passport.

3. One-page MS-WORD form that takes 5 minutes per applicant to fill. This is to be typed-in. No writing and scanning. You just download the MS-WORD file, edit it and mail it back.

That is all. No more documents, no original passport to be submitted. Not even your air-ticket.

Fee to be paid for Singapore Online Visa

A non-refundable fee of Rs. 3500/- is to be paid that can be paid online through the Federal Bank Payment Gateway following the link given on the agent's website.

The process for Singapore Visa for Indians

I prepared the scanned copies of the documents as stated above and my photo in 400x514 pixels. It was 57KB in JPEG format. Then I made the online payment using my credit card. I got a payment reference number on the payment success page that I noted down.

I mailed the scanned documents and the payment reference number to the authorized agent at about 9.50pm on April 16, 2014. At 10.18pm on the same evening, I got a reply from the agent asking me if I had visited Singapore before and wanted the dates of my previous travel to Singapore.

I replied immediately with the information. 10 minutes later, I got another email from the agent confirming that they had received all the required information and would apply for the visa. I liked their efficiency because it was after 10.00pm Indian Standard Time.

They must have forwarded my application that night itself because in less than 24 hours, exactly at 06.16pm on April 17, 2014, the agent forwarded my Singapore e-visa to my email. Their website promised a response time of 2-3 days for this service but actually managed to get a Singapore visa for me in less than a day's time.

  

The Fine Print

My experience was wonderful. But the following points are worth knowing:

1. The fee requirement for the completely online Singapore e-visa is Rs. 3500 whereas for the "submit the documents" type of visa, one needs to pay only Rs. 2750. The same agent (particulars given below) does the cheaper visa too.

2. The online visa is given for "two months - multiple entry" only. The regular e-visa may be for "two months-multiple entry" or "two years-multiple entry" depending on the decision of the Singapore Consulate.

3. A print-out of the e-visa (see picture above) is to be carried to the airport for verification at the airline check-in counter in India.
